Our Adventure is just beginning

Our Adventure is just beginning

After San Antonio, we drove north two hours and spent the next few days with friends. We actually had time apart because Luke spent his days with his friends Kris, Bryce and David and I spent mine with my friends Amanda and Alicia. It felt weird to be alone since we’d been together for over 45 days in a row, but it was really good to spend quality time with friends as well. After Austin, we drove about an hour…

Oh San Antonio.

Oh San Antonio.

After Arizona, we planned on driving to New Mexico and camping for a night before we headed to San Antonio. This actually was going to be one of the last camp nights of the trip, so I tried to find a good spot. Boy were we surprised by New Mexico’s beauty. I had no idea it had such diverse terrain. No offense to the place but I always thought it was an uglier version of Arizona, but we drove through southern New…

Visiting the Homeland

Visiting the Homeland

After Joshua Tree National Park, Luke and I drove to Payson, Arizona. It was two hours “out of the way” on our trip but a place that meant a lot to us. Not only did we camp a lot in Payson, but we also got married there. Since it’s only an hour and a half from Phoenix it made a great weekend trip and also had beautiful scenery. This place also lacked shade and had a no fire policy, so we decided to change course and find a new place. Part of this journey is about learning to be flexible and okay when things don’t work, so it was good to…

Brooke’s Reflections

Brooke’s Reflections

We’re only on the second week and I’ve already learned so much. Technically I left home three weeks ago so the letting go process has been longer than our official adventure start date. I wanted to take a minute to write down some things I have learned/observed for a couple reasons. First, to be able to look back and see how far I have come and second, I really want this blog to be a resource for others. If you…

Shoester, we’re not in Phoenix anymore.

Shoester, we’re not in Phoenix anymore.

Hi! Sorry for any words spelled wrong, I can’t get my feet to hit the keys in the right spots. Woof, oh well. My mom told me I should introduce myself, so hi I’m Sox. Well, at least to my human friends. I wanted to tell you a story about my first real road trip … I think that’s what those are called. Did you hear we’re doing that? Well, it was news to me. I’ll tell you how…

The Adventure Approaching

The Adventure Approaching

Brooke here coming at you with the first official blog post.   The time draws near for our adventure and it was the perfect time to get the first post on its way to you. I want this blog to be a place where you get real insight into our journey and our thoughts along the way. I’ve always considered myself an open book and I’m not afraid to “get real”. So with that, let’s talk about anxiety. My whole…
